TRUNKSAFE TS SeriesFault-Tolerant Fieldbus System The TRUNKSAFE Fault-Tolerant Fieldbus System provides a cost-effective, yet highly reliable, strategy to maintain continuous communications between field devices and a Distributed Control System in the event of any single point failure (such as an open- or short-circuit) on a FOUNDATION fieldbus™ H1 or PROFIBUS PA segment.
The First Redundant Fieldbus Physical Layer TRUNKSAFE is comprised of two redundant fieldbus DC power conditioners and specially-engineered device coupler (6- and 12-spur models) that, in combination, provide a secure, and redundant, fieldbus physical layer.
DIN-Rail and Complete Field-Mount Packages TRUNKSAFE Device Couplers and Power Conditioners snap onto standard DIN-rail. To reduce specification and installation time, device couplers can also be ordered in a variety of our ready-to-install field-mount, weather-proof enclosures complete with cable glands.

General Purpose and Hazardous Area Installations For installation in General Purpose and Non-Incendive (Class 1, Division 2) areas, TRUNKGUARD Fieldbus Device Couplers can be matched with our FPS200 Fieldbus Power Supplies. For intrinsically-safe applications, see the RM100 Intrinsically-Safe Fieldbus System. For installation in Zone 1 areas, see the TG300 Series Fieldbus Device Coupler.
Industry-First Advantages Available in 4-, 8-, 10-, 12- and 20-spur models, TRUNKGUARD is the first fieldbus Device Coupler to provide fully automatic segment termination. The patented technology prevents fieldbus segment failure from under- or over-termination, a major problem in fieldbus startups. The TRUNKGUARD's auto-termination feature assures that local parts of a fieldbus segment will continue to function if remote parts of that segment are accidentally disconnected. This prevents costly downtime and hazardous situations. Other unique features include diagnostic LEDs that positively indicate power status on each fieldbus spur, spur short circuits, status of auto-termination, as well as convenient connections for a fieldbus hand-held configurator.
Short Circuit Protection On detection of excess current on a fieldbus spur, the TG200 reacts immediately to switch spur current to a nominal trickle-level, rather than limiting the fault current to a fixed (and always higher) level as is typically done by competing units. With removal of the short, the spur is automatically reconnected to the fieldbus segment.

To reduce specification and installation time, they can also be ordered in a variety of our ready-to-install field-mount, weather-proof enclosures complete with cable glands. Options include GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) and stainless steel enclosures with glands for armored or unarmored cable.

Designed for Zone 1 Areas The TRUNKGUARD 300 Series Fieldbus Device Coupler is designed and approved for use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 with flameproof Exd devices. Each device coupler channel can be manually de-energized using a key-operated magnetic interlock. This allows individual fieldbus devices to be disconnected from the fieldbus segment without de-powering the entire segment, even in Zone 1 areas. The fieldbus device coupler's LED indicators show the current state of each channel (NORMAL, FAULT or DE-ENERGIZED).
Industry-First Advantages Available in a 4- or 8-spur configuration, the TRUNKGUARD 300 Series is the first to provide fully automatic segment termination. The patented technology prevents fieldbus segment failure from under- or over-termination, a major problem in fieldbus startups. The TRUNKGUARD's auto-termination feature assures that local parts of a fieldbus segment will continue to function if remote parts of that segment are accidentally disconnected. The TPS400 TRUNKGUARD Fieldbus Power Supply provides isolated, conditioned power to up to four FOUNDATION fieldbus™ segments. Designed for flexibility and ease of implementation, the TPS400 is fully compliant with FF831-1 (the technical specification for fieldbus power supplies). It is designed for use with MooreHawke Series 200 and Series 300 TRUNKGUARD Fieldbus Device Couplers, as well as any other manufacturer’s non-intrinsically-safe fieldbus device couplers. The DIN-style rail-mount TPS400 provides 350mA or 500mA to up to four segments.
Complete Device Coupler Compatibility for General and Hazardous Area Installations For use with the TPS400 Fieldbus Power Supply, MooreHawke offers Fieldbus Device Couplers for installation in General Purpose, Zone 2/Division2 locations (TRUNKGUARD Model TG200), Zone 1 locations (TRUNKGUARD Model TG300) and for I.S. Entity and FISCO applications (Model SPURBARRIER™ SB Series).

SPURBARRIER Fieldbus Device Couplers for Intrinsically-Safe Devices (Ex e / Ex i) SPURBARRIER (SB Series) Fieldbus Device Couplers connect intrinsically-safe fieldbus devices to a non-intrinsically-safe (Ex e) trunk in FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 and PROFIBUS PA networks. They are suitable for installation in Zones 1, 2, 21, 22 (IEC) and Class 12, Division 2 (NEC) areas.
Compliant with FISCO and ENTITY specifications, SB Series Device Couplers provide up to 40mA to each of up to four intrinsically-safe spurs. Typical applications would consist of one to four units that are connected to one hazardous area trunk to support up to 16 intrinsically-safe devices on a fieldbus segment.

Connect Directly to FISCO or Entity Devices The ATEX-approved version Device Couplers (RMA100C) can be installed in IIB or IIC areas connecting FISCO or Entity devices.
Intrinsically-Safe, Isolated Power Supply The ROUTE-MASTER's rack-mount fieldbus power supply delivers intrinsically-safe segment power and communications to up to eight fieldbus segments to fieldbus devices mounted in a hazardous area. It provides a fully-isolated, redundantly-powered, passively-conditioned and intrinsically-safe trunk for connection into a hazardous area. No I.S. ground is required. The 350mA fieldbus segment capacity is the greatest available for any I.S. configuration, and allows normal segment design rules without undue restriction. To minimize segment voltage drop, and maximize the power available in the field, the ROUTE-MASTER can be wired to provide dual outputs from the same fieldbus segment input.
Industry-First Advantages Available in 4-, 8-, 10- and 20-spur models, ROUTE-MASTER Fieldbus Device Couplers use the same technology as our industry-first TRUNKGUARD Fieldbus Device Couplers to provide fully automatic segment termination. The patented technology prevents fieldbus segment failure from under- or over-termination, a major problem in fieldbus startups. The ROUTE-MASTER's auto-termination feature assures that local parts of a fieldbus segment will continue to function if remote parts of that segment are accidentally disconnected. Short Circuit Protection On detection of excess current on a spur, the ROUTE-MASTER reacts immediately to switch spur current to a nominal trickle-level, rather than limiting the fault current to a fixed (and always higher) level as is typically done by competing units. With removal of the short, the spur is automatically reconnected to the segment.
